In KNOW MORE, we cover a specific point of knowledge relating to self defence to give a deeper understanding of it.

Today in KNOW MORE: Good self defence practitioners are less likely to be victims of crime.

Why is this? The reasons why this assertion is held true by many are these three key factors.

Firstly, self defence students gaining confidence and strength will simultaneously develop more positive body language, better posture and more athletic mobility. These factors are consciously observed by would-be criminals and present you as a higher risk of not being compliant and fighting back in a resource or predatory criminal scenario. Simply, the criminal want an easier target and are more likely to move on.

Secondly, training effective self defence teaches you situational awareness and distance control. You propend less to be present in violent conflicts as you can read the physical, emotional environment around you better to avoid these. Avoiding the bad neighbourhood, street, time of day, social group, venue or indeed personal distractive behaviour that instinct your situational radar to be a present or potential danger.

Thirdly, developing excellent self defence skills teaches you that your ego is not your amigo so you don’t need to engage in any potential social violence scenario facing you, as well as knowing more about conflict management and resolution to deescalate threats before they become physical. You trust and know your skills so you have nothing to prove if you’re provoked or antagonised. You only fight to save life and limbs because you know fighting risks life and limbs, so you walk on with a placid ego and a peaceful disposition.
